Brandon Arrington was concerned when the H1N1 Swine Flu came to town so he found Germy Wormy and decided to do something about it. As a member of the Rotary Club, he got the group together and they decided to purchase Germy Wormy Germ Smart for Kids for all of the elementary schools in their school district.
"This year the Rotary Club of Burnet Texas was looking for a community project and somehow I came upon Germy Wormy. We decided to Germy Worm the entire Burnet Schools grades Pre-K thru 1st. Needless to say the kids as well as the teachers loved it. Matter of fact it was so successful that we are going one step futher and are going to Germy Worm all the daycares in Burnet as well. Keep up the good work!" |

"My husband & I purchased Germy Wormy for our grandson's kindergarten class at the beginning of the school year. Both of the Kindergarten classes watched the video together & we supplied enough sleeves for several months. Since the children have been using the Germy Wormy there have been no absences from either class. This program does work & the school will use this going forward so that it will be a GERM FREE school in 2010! I am spreading the word about Germy Wormy so that everyone will be knowledgeable about germs."
Beverly C. Tampa, FL
"My son is good about using his elbow rather than hands but I didn't like how messy his sleeves got. Now, with your sleeves, when Germy Wormy gets dirty I can toss the germs away and keep his sleeve clean!"
Muriel S. Lansing, MI
"Wow... I love it... It has changed the way my family coughs. Even my husband and I are coughing into our elbows! I am hoping this cold season will be different then the usual pass the germ game. I will keep you posted on that. Thanks for such a great idea!! I will be passing the word! Thanks again.... "
Treena K. Menifee, CA
"We learned about Germy Wormy at Charis house about a year ago when in a playdate Natalie (4years) saw the Germy Wormy video that you brought. I bought the kit and played it at home for about a week. Since my children didn't get a cold last season, I simply didnt need to reinforce it. At that time I didn't see that they learned from watching the video. To my surprise, a few weeks ago, when my 2 year old had a cold, it was Natalie who was telling Steve how to cough: "Cover your mouth like the Germy Wormy Steve" and she was showing him how to do it. I was very surprised that she remembered the cartoon story after so many months. and she kept showing him how when he coughed. Children DO learn with this method. I highly recommend it."
Alejandra Baker Orange County, CA
"I am a retired grandfather who dearly loves to babysit, play with, and teach any of my six grandkids. After I was diagnosed with cancer it was a sad day when I realized there was a price to pay for being with them. Small children are a major source of colds and flu for elderly people and I now could not affort to get sick. But now, with Germy Wormy on the job, I have not picked up any colds or flu for a year despite frequent adventures with my grandkids. By them giving all their germs to Germy Wormy instead of me I have been able to spend lots of time with them without worry. I also noticed that I haven't heard "Sorry Dad, can't come over today, X is sick" in a long time because my grandkids aren't sick as much. Time is short, this means a lot - thank you!"
Pappa Ed Murrieta, CA
"I never realized the connection between touching your face and getting sick until we got Germy Wormy to teach our kids about germs. After a horrible flu season last year I wanted to do everything I could this year and found Germy Wormy on the web. Even our 3 year old is not playing the pass the germ game with us any more. "
Gail M. Escondido, CA
"I've got 5 kids and 12 grandkids. That is why I bought 5 programs - one for each family. This Thanksgiving will not be a repeat of last year where I was sick for 3 weeks after the little ones left!! Great idea and thanks for sharing it with my family."
Marie L. Temecula, CA
"I watched the germy wormy video with my 3 yr old daughter. She LOVED germy wormy - she was saying his name and was very excited during the video. She actually has a cold today so I've got her in a sleeve and am hoping she is going to sneeze into it after watching the video. I think the video is great at introducing Germy Wormy. I think the show is well done - it is a great introduction to the germ concepts. Thank you!"
Charis W. Laguna Niguel, CA
"A couple of weeks ago, I introduced the Germy Wormy to my granddaughter by showing her the puppet show. She loved the puppet show and wanted to put the Germy Wormy right on. Then she asked "Grammy, can I have some pepper, Germy Wormy is Hungry?" She wore it all during dinner and kept saying I hope I sneeze soon.
Last Sunday when she came over she was sneezy. She sneezed into the elbow every time. She wasn't wearing a Germy, so her sleeve was gunky, but after only two weeks she has already acquired the good habit that Germy's supposed to teach.
Mission accomplished Germy Wormy!"
Pat B. Waltham, MA
"Thank you for the playdate. The girls talked about Germy Wormy all day! They had great fun telling Daddy about it. They really enjoyed the puppet show and are eager to show Daddy that as well. I'm really excited that the puppet show teaches about not putting fingers and toys in your mouth. Germy Wormy has come in handy in reminding the girls in a quick way about what they are doing. "
Kristalyn K. Sun City, CA
"What I love the MOST about Germy Wormy is that when we tried it out here at home, the kids REALLY got into it and it seems that they have jumped on the bandwagon without much effort at ALL from me! ... One of the most memorable tidbits from the Parent's Guide is a darling activity that lets your kidlets *visualize* germs and the effects of NOT containing coughs and sneezes in your elbow."
Naomi H Cincinatti OH
"Thank you for the DVD and the arm sleeves. I had the two of the "walking germs" at our house this afternoon. I played the DVD and they both watched it and the older one (4) even put his face in the sleeve. Both my wife and daughter thought you did and excellent job and appreciate what you are trying to accomplish. If I get one less cold a year from them it worked!"
Barry S. Newport Beach, CA
"I got the chance recently to try out some Germy Wormy disposable sanitary sleeves on my daughter and they work great! Perfect timing too because my toddler has a cold and I have been trying to teach her to use these. Sometimes she makes it and sometimes not, but if everyone taught their kids to catch germs this way it would definitely slow down the spread of colds and flu."
Jen G. Lansing, MI
"I ordered the Germy Wormy for the Classroom because I do a health class for the youth group at our church. Last week, with 40 kids from 3 - 8 we all watched the Germy Wormy - Protecting the Fort show and used our Germy Wormy's. It was crazy but the kids loved it! In fact, one girl raised her hand and asked where she could buy it. The parents sat and watched it too and they were very impressed. Germy Wormy is a hit in Triangle VA! Thank you for this excellent program."
Angeline B. Reston, VA
"Such an amazing product! My 3-year-old daughter loved the DVD and within a WEEK she was coughing and sneezing into her elbow area. To this day, she won't eat her dinner without washing her hands and face first. AMAZING! I would recommend the Germy Wormy to any parent!"
Kelly A. Glendale, CA
"Germy Wormy accomplished it's mission in our house. The sleeve was a perfect target to help reinforce using their elbow. My 4 year old adopted the concepts quickly and Germ Stoppers 5 is a great "code word". I definately recommend the Germ Smart program."
Abigail M. Orlando, FL
"I bought Germy Wormy to bring to our small country school and the teacher loved it. Everytime that I go to the school the kids are using their elbow or Germy Wormy. They sure retained what they learned from the video! Money well spent."
Sarah G. Long Valley, SD

"Margaret, I wanted to (1) Thank You and (2) Update you. I cannot say enough to show my appreciation for the timely receipt of the products and the excellent quality as well. The video, posters and Germy Wormy sleeves added another dimension to my program.
The kids enjoyed the DVD and the parents were intrigued with the sleeves. I gave out samples and I should have gotten another box. Because I think I want to talk about it during my toddlers program on Wednesday. I didn’t even think about them when I was preparing for this. But those parents would appreciate your products as well. I see about 50 toddlers on a weekly basis.
I am definitely making Germy a permanent member of my “Germs Make Me Sick” Program.
Do you still have my ordering information? Can you send me 3 boxes of Germy Wormy sleeves? Please ship however best in order to by Tuesday so I have them by Wednesday. Don’t forget to add more business cards!"
Blessings,
Vivian R. Waco, TX Youth Services Librarian Waco-McLennan County Library
“Our K - 3 grade classrooms received the Germy Wormy program to “oohs” and “ahhhs”!The DVD was an excellent way for us to engage the students in a fun and educational learning process about coughing and sneezing into the elbow area. Not only does the Germy Wormy puppet show convey easy-to-understand information about the spread of germs, but the Germy Wormy sleeve gives students a visual reminder and a chance to engage in a discussion about the process; something we had been encouraging them to do for quite some time. I would absolutely recommend Germy Wormy to other preschool and elementary school programs!”
Emily L. Gill Elementary, Farmington Hills, MI
"After an H1N1 outbreak, we got Germy Wormy and introduced it to our K - 3 classes. We are ordering again because the response was so great that we are expanding the program to our Pre-K classes."
Michael P. Falconer Elementary School, Chicago, IL
“I am the librarian at Valley Elementary School in Arthurdale West Virginia. I proposed the Germy Wormy program to our principal, and volunteered to present it to all of the Kindergarten, and First Grade students, teachers, parents and PTA members. I am a firm believer in the Germy Wormy program. The students loved it and learned lessons that I hope will last for years. Every day in the library I see evidence of a need for this lesson in hygiene. I am pleased to have the Germy Wormy program to help me teach them to be Germy Wormy Germ Smart. Thank you “
Nancy Lininger, Valley Elementary School, Arthurdale, WV
"WOW! I am so EXCITED about this product. I bought the DVD and the sleeves. Tomorrow, I will be shipping them to a village in Africa. I worked with a village where about 300 children attend school there. My assignment there is to teach children hygiene. After stumbling upon your website, I couldn't resist to order. I've gone over the curriculum and will be sending out my order to the village I worked. In October, I will be returning there to do more teaching. So, I will be ordering more. I wanted to let you know that your stuff will be reaching children in Ghana!"
Rebecca M.
"Wow. This program is so great! What a selling point to parents for my family child care that I can teach their children germ awareness that will help keep the parents from getting sick. I introduced it last week and the kids got it. I mean really got it, germs that is, for the first time! They love feeding Germy Wormy. My parents were surprised but grateful. Thank you!" Mariah B. Owner - Little Rascals Daycare
"As a former preschool director/teacher, now family child care provider, I have seen germs spread faster than teenagers can eat pizza! (If you have a teenager you'll understand that that is pretty fast) The constant cleaning and spraying away germs that we can see, but what about the ones that we can't. Oh my gosh, Germy Wormy is heaven sent. The fun way to teach children (and adults) how to stop the spread of germs just by coughing and sneezing into the little hungry worm sleeve. Children love to wear the worm on their elbows and feed Germy Wormy! There's finally something that children can understand immediately how to use. Since scientists can't find a cure for the common cold, at least Germy Wormy can help us fight the spread of it."
Charlotte Williams, Owner - Charlotte's Web Family Child Care
Wanted to let you know that we have made Germy Wormy a permanent part of our curriculum. We used your flyer to notify the parents and they were so excited about the program. Then, we introduced Germy Wormy to the kids and they loved it! One of our teachers printed out a huge picture of Germy Wormy and posted it on the board. The teachers love that they have a fun way to remind the children to not spread germs - they just say "Remember Germy Wormy - let's feed the worm!"
Ali Jude, Director St Thomas Episcopal Preschool
I would like to say thanks for the wonderful materials with the Germy Wormy, the children loved the demonstration and the cd.We have passed on Germy Wormy information to other daycare providers for them to contact your company to include the program in their center as well.
Dana E. Morris, Owner and Operator - Tots-N-Blocks Learning Center
The Germy Wormy Germ Awareness program is so visual, a vital part to learning for younger children. They see how germs spread and make the link between their actions that spread germs and getting sick -for them selves and everyone else. It also teaches all 3 of the keys to illness prevention. This is brilliant!
Julie Stenger - Riverside Child Care Consortium
Thank you for the Germy Wormy program. We taught about germs with other programs before but with Germy Wormy they have a better understanding of how they get sick and are more aware of their job in preventing it. They are excited that they have a role in keeping themselves and others healthy. Thank you!
Ms. Mello, Kindergarten Teacher - GSLS
The program is a great tool in introducing the concept of spreading germs. Plus, it is fun to teach! Many of the students enjoy the character and like wearing it. If a student is coughing and sneezing others tell them to get a Germy Wormy :-)

The CDC recommends coughing into the elbow, but not many 5-year-olds have received that memo. ...... Dr. Don Goldmann, professor of immunology, infectious diseases and epidemiology at Harvard University says "If a person has to cough, the elbow is a great place to do it, and the disposable sleeves might help stop the spread of flu if they encourage kids to cover their coughs.
One of the hazards of writing a health blog, as I've come to discover, is that everyone with a health-related product or idea finds you, convinced they have the perfect subject matter. I am rarely persuaded.
Every now and then, though, I am pleased to discover a concept of real potential value, and into this category goes 'the Germy Wormy.'.........
"I've been meaning to thank you for sending me the Germy Wormy sleeves and DVD. I watched it and I think it's wonderful. We are running a few more flu clinics at the elementary schools in our area and we are going to show the children the DVD before they get their flu shots, give them a sleeve and have the teachers do a class on it. I also work as a teacher at the Boston Science Museum and my bosses are going to watch the video and try and incorporate it into our curriculum."
Meghan H. Museum of Science Teaching Assistant
A new germ control program is now available to local schools, daycares and area churches to train our young people how to contain their coughs and sneezes to the crook of their elbow.
Contact Lee McCasland at 413-442-1506 x 21 for more information or to schedule a program. The Program is offered free of charge to local groups.
MommyDocs Dr. Jamie Freishtat and Dr. Rachel Schreiber podcast with tips on how to stay healthy and keep germs at bay - featuring Clorox Wipes and Bleach, the Simplehuman® touch free sensor soap pump and Germy Wormy.
It is definately worth giving this product a try and pass it on to your friends and preschool teachers! I think it will make everyone happier to know that the unwanted germs are going to the elbow, not the air or the hands only to be passed on to an unsuspecting child. Dr. Jamie

MothersClick My kids love the character and since they saw the puppet show and we played the Germ Stoppers 5 activity, they get why they should wash their hands, they are coughing and sneezing into their elbow and are careful about what touches their mouth, nose, eyes and ears - the 3 keys to stopping the spread of germs that Germy Wormy teaches. Now, if they go to put their finger in their nose, I just say Remember Germ Stoppers 5 and they stop!
MommasintheHouse When it comes time and she catches a cold, I will not have to go through the grueling process of chasing her around the entire house, with kleenex, or trying to hold her down, as we stick a nasal aspirator, up her nose.

TypeAMom My daughter is 6. We have been talking about coughing in her elbow for at least 4 years. With Germy Wormy she will do it with out a reminder. Her teacher is going to use the sleeves in class. She was thrilled about your product.
